Generative AI in Relation to Scholarly Publication
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Relation to Scholarly Publication
These WAME (World Association of Medical Editor) guidelines aim to help authors and reviewers understand how best to attribute the use of chatbots/AI in their work.
- AI tools should not be credited as authors.
- Authors can use generative AI (ChatGPT) to enhance readability and language but must carefully review and edit AI-generated content, as they are responsible for its accuracy.
- Authors must disclose the use of AI in their manuscript under a section titled “Declaration on the use of Generative AI and assisted technologies in the writing process,” specifying the AI tool used.
