What are the criteria for admission in MBBS and BDS classes?

The admission process will start in August/September 2021. Following are the eligibility criteria for admission in MBBS and BDS for Session 2021-2022

ELIGIBILITY

  • A candidate must have passed F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or equivalent examination having a minimum of twelve years of education with a minimum of 65% marks from any Board or University or must have passed, obtaining a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate in an examination of a course from a foreign university or examining body or foreign education system with at least three science subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics and certified by the inter-Boards Committee of Chairman (IBCC) as equivalent to higher secondary school certificate (HSSC) or F.Sc. intermediate level of Pakistan.
  • A candidate must have appeared in the Entrance Test (MDCAT) with 65% marks according to PMC/UHS admission policy.

For Foreign or Overseas Students

  • A student who does not hold a Pakistan nationality, or holds dual nationality, or is an overseas or a non-resident Pakistan citizen and has obtained their HSSC or equivalent 12th-grade qualification from outside Pakistan with three subjects out of which Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics are mandatory subjects with 65% aggregate as a certificate by IBCC in the above terms shall be accepted in aggregate and the candidate shall be eligible for admission in the MBBS/BDS course with any study group whichever the IBCC may write. It shall be the responsibility of the candidate to get equivalence certificates from IBCC, Islamabad for recognition of his/her qualification.
  • A candidate must have passed 65% of the Entrance Test (MDCAT) Examination conducted by the National Medical Authority (i.e. PMC).

 

MERIT CALCULATION FOR MBBS:

The merit list is arranged by a weightage formula as under

  • (Pre-Medical)/ HSSC / Equivalent (60%) (Science subjects only)
  • Admission Test (MDCAT) (20%)
  • Test to be conducted by the college (20%) (Admission test will not be conducted. All eligible Applicants will be awarded full marks of admission test in formulating college merit)
    • Understanding of English language
    • Aptitude test for Medical Education

 

MERIT CALCULATION FOR BDS:

The merit list is arranged by a weightage formula as under

  • (Pre-Medical)/ HSSC / Equivalent (50%) ( Science subjects only )
  • Admission Test (MDCAT) (25%)
  • Test to be conducted by the college (25%) (Admission test will not be conducted. All eligible Applicants will be awarded full marks of admission test in formulating college merit)
    • Understanding of English language
    • Aptitude test for Medical Education

 

NOTE:   LMDC will follow the admission policy of PMC/UHS. The Change in the above-mentioned admission criteria is done as per Admission Regulation 2021 announced by Pakistan Medical Commission on 4th June 2021. Furthermore, any change if needed, in admission policy by the concerned regulatory authorities shall be implemented even after the admission forms have been submitted.

The distribution of seats in different courses is as under

  • MBBS            150 seats
  • BDS                75 seats

There is no age limit for the candidate. However, the candidate should possess adequate mental and physical health.

The last merit for admission in MBBS and BDS was as under:

  • MBBS        89%
  • BDS        82%

Yes, you can get admission provided you have passed the entrance test of PMC and come on merit.

No distinction is made in terms of Merit and Criteria between a Pakistani, Overseas Pakistani, or Foreign student.

No, seats are reserved for Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The Session usually starts in January/ February depending upon the declaration of the result of FSc. (Pre-medical) by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education. The admission process will start in August/ September every year and advertisements will come in the leading dailies. Applications from the eligible candidates are invited on the prescribed online form separately for 1st Year MBBS and BDS.

There are three working days to submit the required fee.

There is a body called Inter Board Committee of Chairmen, which organizes and gives equivalence to candidates who have passed A-level or 12th Grade or any other examination equivalent to Intermediate Level. We accept only an IBCC equivalence certificate for admission.

Lahore Pharmacy College, Lahore College of Physical Therapy, Ruth Pfau College of Nutrition Sciences, and Ruth Pfau College of Life Sciences are the landmark projects of Lahore Medical and Dental College, Lahore, and are fully functioning in Lahore Medical and Dental College, premises.

610-bedded Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital, Lahore, including a most modern Spine Centre, 250-bedded Doctors’ Hospital, and 150-bedded Surgimed Hospital, Lahore are attached with Lahore Medical and Dental College, Lahore for clinical and practical training of students. All the hospitals are equipped with state-of-the-art electro-medical equipment and are well attended by patients.

Yes, migration is possible according to the rules framed by the Pakistan Medical Commission subject to the availability of seats and N.O.C from the university, both the institutions, and Pakistan Medical Commission.

Yes, we have spacious hostels separately for boys and girls. The hostels are located adjacent to the college. The building of the hostel is purpose-built, secured, and has alternate sources of electrical supply in case of electrical load shedding.

Yes, all the departments of college and hostels have internet access.

We have 43 security guards fully armed. They remain on duty round the clock in college and hostels. More than 350 CCTV/IP cameras have been installed and activities are monitored.

Yes, we have a JS bank booth to facilitate the students for monetary transactions.

We have fully developed playgrounds for cricket, hockey, and football and facilities for indoor games. Gymnasiums are available in the boys’ and girls’ hostels for physical exercise.

Fee Structure

The fee is charged according to the instructions of PMC and its detail is available on our website and each subsequent degree page. 

Lahore Medical and Dental College awards a prize of Rs. 300,000/-, Rs. 200,000/- and Rs. 100,000/- respectively to students who get first, second and third positions in University Examinations.

We have fully equipped and developed dental clinics for Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and Operative Dentistry. All the clinics are well attended by patients.
