Prof. Dr. Aqib is currently working as Principal/Dean & Head of the Department (OMFS) Lahore Medical and Dental College. He has devoted 20 years of his career to this institution. He is also the Vice president of PAOMS and faculty member of AO international, CPSP, board of study, curriculum core committee (UHS) and AOMS. He is Examiner FCPS at CPSP, Examiner/Paper setter/Assessor for Final Professional Examination, for Bachelors of Dental Surgery in UHS since 2005 and appointed inspector by PMC and CPSP and involved in developing policies at national level by coordinating with PMC, UHS and CPSP. He is currently providing supervision to 15 committees of the Dental College, LMDC to bring vision of this institute to reality.
He did his BDS from Nishtar Medical College followed by FCPS College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan and obtained membership from Royal college Glasgow and master in Health professional education. He has supervised many postgraduates since 2007 and his students are now working in highest positions both National and International level. He has provided research guidance and reviewed countless thesis/synopsis for FCPS, MDS and MPhil. He is also actively involved in reviewing research articles for different journals. He is also editor of PAOMS journal. He has 31 publications to his credit and many in the process of publications.
Dr Aqib is the head of the Ethical Review Committee which governs the standards of conduct for scientific researchers. All research projects undertaken by the faculty or Postgraduate Trainees in LMDC are reviewed by him first. The Research committee works closely with the Ethical Committee to ensure high ethical standards and scientific merits of research involving human subjects. Dr Aqib provides assistance and guidance in addressing ethical as well as research issues that may arise in patient care. The ultimate goal is to promote the highest standards of research at LMDC. The committees are also involved in organising research events or any related events of Health Professionals Education.
